Songs

Both, to the tune of Mr. Sandman:

Mr. Leo
Wearing yellow
You eat so much
As we all know
It is your job
To grow and grow
We love you, Mr. Leo

Little Zoe
So very pretty
We have to clean up
Your poo and your pee
But we don’t mind
It’s not a duty
Cuz’ we love you, Little Zoe

Songs

Sung to the tune of, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot:

Aim low, sweet Sama-lama
Put the pee in the potty
You’ve got to aim down
To make the tinkle sound
Put the pee in the potty

Songs

Although Sammy has stopped begging me to sing Christmas songs to her, she will still sometimes sing them herself.  One of her favorites (mine, too!) is Feliz Navidad.  But, also like me, she often changes the words of songs just for fun.  And now, I am pleased to make Sammy’s first entry into the Songs category of this blog:

Feliz Mommy-Dad
Feliz Mommy-Dad
I want to wish you a Mommy Christmas
I want to wish you a Mommy Christmas
I want to wish you a Mommy Christmas from the bottom of my heart

Just about the cutest thing I’ve ever heard!

Two Songs

Sung to the tune of the Kit Kat candy bar song from the 80′s commercial:

Listen and do
Listen and do
That’s how we cooperate
Me and You

I’m not crazy about the obedience aspect in this song, but Sammy really responds to it.  Sometimes, she just needs a reminder to “tune in” to me.  These little songs always lighten the mood, which is sometimes all that is needed.

And I can’t believe I’ve never published my potty success song.  It never really worked as a motivator, but Sammy and I both enjoy it.  There is no tune – it’s more of a cheer:

You put it in the proper place
You put it in the proper place
The potty
The potty
The potty
Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tinkle, Tinkle

Sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star:

Tinkle, tinkle, little pee
How I wonder how you got in me
Was it the milk or was it the juice?
Or was it the water that set you loose?
Tinkle, tinkle, little pee
How I wonder how you got in me

Referee

Sung to the tune of “Where is Thumbkin”:

Jinx and Sammy
Jinx and Sammy
Don’t you fight
Don’t you fight
I don’t want to referee
I don’t want to referee
It makes me uptight
It makes me uptight

Sung to the tune of This Old Man:

Baby Sam
Baby Sam
Tell me, tell me, what’s your plan
Doctor, lawyer, maybe spaceman
You can do anything, yes you can

Eat Your Veggies

This song, sung to the tune of “Where is Thumbkin,” got Samantha to eat a big plate of vegetables.  Making up food songs seems to be a great trick for this particular kid.  I wonder if that is universal?

Eat your veggies
Eat your veggies
Finish them all
Finish them all
Chew them and then swallow
Chew them and then swallow
Yum Yum Yum
Yum Yum Yum

Bloated

Sung to the tune of I’m a Little Teapot (why didn’t we think of this one when she was three months old?):

She’s a little Sammy
Short and stout
When she fills with gas she lets out a shout
If it doesn’t come out she start to pout
So pick her up and squeeze it out

The Ballerina

Sung to the tune of I’m a Little Teapot:

I’m a ballerina
Spin around
Kick up my leg and
Jump to the ground
I love to dance for the audience
When I’m done they clap their hands

Sung to the tune of Pop Goes the Weasel:

All around the Mossoff house
Sammy chases Jinxy
Then he tries to scratch her face
POP! goes the Sammy

Toby Is Gross

These don’t rhyme much, but when you get to use the word gross so much, who cares?  Sing to the tune of Three Blind Mice:

Toby is gross
Toby is gross
Toby is gross
Toby is gross
He’s a big, stinking, and hairy brown oaf
His fur gets stuck all over the place
But we love him anyway
Toby is gross

And then, because she said, JINX GROSS:

Jinx is gross
Jinx is gross
Jinx is gross
Jinx is gross
He chews his tail and it gets all sticky
He’s a crazy and mean and grumpy kitty
But we love him ’cause he’s so pretty
Jinx is gross

And then, because she said, MOMMY GROSS:

Mommy is gross
Mommy is gross
Mommy is gross
Mommy is gross
She blows her nose all day and night
She leaves her tissues all over the place
She doesn’t even wash her face
Mommy is gross

And then, because she said, SAMMY GROSS:

Samantha is gross
Samantha is gross
Samantha is gross
Samantha is gross
She makes a lot of pee and poo
She leave them in her diapers
When will she learn to use the potty?
Sammy is gross

And then, because she said, DADDY GROSS:

Daddy is gross
Daddy is gross
Daddy is gross
Daddy is gross
He doesn’t always take a shower
He sometimes doesn’t shave his face
He gets really stinky ’cause he is a boy
Daddy is gross

This was the first song we made up for Sam.

Sing this to the tune of You Are My Sunshine:

Little Samantha
Little Samantha
We really love you
Yes we do
We really love you
Little Samantha
Your pee, your puke and your poo

Sing this to the tune of Three Blind Mice:

Chew your food
Chew your food
Chew your food
Chew your food
Chomp it up like a good dinosaur
After you swallow you can let out a roar
And if you’re still hungry you can have some more
Chew your food
